I would just like everyone to welcome all of our new members. It seems that every time I check the profile information, there are a few more of you. That is excellent. :) Please remember that we are working hard to get things off the ground and that everyone's input is welcome and appreciated.

I disagree with this on one point: I don't think that this community should be about animal welfare.

Discussions involving animal welfare are welcome, absolutely, but "reduction of animal suffering" is one of the contentious points and will likely go on the list.

I think that the "who is welcome" part should stick to diet: anyone is welcome who partakes in a vegetarian diet or is interested in talking about vegetarianism.

That leaves it wide open for people who eat vegetarian for health concerns, environmental concerns or animal concerns -- and all should be welcome.

well, in my books, that's great, because when people are vegetarian, even for non animal rights reasons, they are reducing animal suffering whether they care or not ;)
